It uses some of the unfinished rooms in the king's homage to Versailles, Herrenchiemsee Palace, in an attempt to unravel some of the mystery surrounding the enigmatic Bavarian ruler. He didn't try to Copy Versailles exactly, but to update it to what was then modern standards. The palace sits pretty on an island in Bavaria's largest lake.
