When my grandfather retired, he decided to start growing vegetables. This was an entirely new hobby for him, as there hadn't been much call for farming skills when he was growing up in Brooklyn in the 1930s.

The first batch of veggies yielded a batch of inch-long carrots. It's just too bad he missed the baby carrot phase by a decade or two.
