Best of Europe

From James Martin, your Guide to Europe Travel

By the time you read this I should be in Europe, slaving away and eating to excess to bring you the best of the cities, villages, food, and culture of the Continent. Follow the blog for daily updates, or follow our twitter feed for concise and sometimes odd updates from wherever I end up.

The Murals of Orgosolo
Orgosolo in Sardinia is one of my favorite small villages of Europe. An interesting modern mural movement swept the town in the early 70s and hasn't let up; Orgosolo wears its politics on the side of its houses. See what it's all about in our recently updated article.

Burgundy tours
For those of you who do Burgundy by Train, you might want to take a tour and leave the driving to people with the vehicles. Here we present some wine tours in Burgundy.

Hallstatt, Austria
What's Hallstatt got? Lakeside peace and quiet, beautiful views, and you take a boat from the train station to get to town. Take the funicular up to ancient salt mines; salt has been mined here for 7000 years according to the literature. Walkers will love Hallstatt. Our friends loved the salt we brought back, too.
