No Money Needed at Canada's New Water Park
Calypso Waterpark, which is set to open in early June in Limoges, Ontario (about 20 minutes from Ottawa) is billing itself as "Canada's largest theme waterpark." I'm not quite sure what is meant by a theme waterpark, but at 100 acres, Calypso is certainly huge. And with its whimsical Caribbean ambiance and colorful characters, it offers plenty of themeing. And plenty of slides and rides, including the Calypso Palace wave pool, which the park says is as big as three NHL rinks (but hopefully not as cold). Perhaps its most intriguing feature? Instead of trying to figure out where to stash money in their skimpy bathing suits, visitors can pay by scanning their fingerprint. Read more about Calypso Waterpark.
| The Line DOESN'T Form Here
They are the bane of park fans. They can drive even the most ardent coaster freak a little stir-crazy. And they can lead to whiny kids and family meltdowns faster than a meal that includes broccoli. They are the soul-crushing lines that precede the bone-crushing rides at popular amusement parks and theme parks. Disney pioneered the "virtual line" concept by introducing its Fastpass system a number of years ago. Other parks have come up with their own systems to reserve places in lines while not requiring guests to actually wait in the lines. But Fastpass and its imitators all have limitations and drawbacks.
