Cruises Cruises Plan a Cruise Cruise Lines Destinations From Linda Garrison, your Guide to Cruises A river cruise is a wonderful way to explore the rivers, canals, and waterways of the Netherlands and Belgium. Earlier this month, I sailed on the AMAWaterways Amalegro, and reveled in the opportunity to visit the quaint villages and exciting cities of the region. And, then there are those tulips and windmills! AMAWaterways Amalegro River Ship Tour and Profile AMAWaterways has six identical European river ships with musical names, including the Amalegro. In addition to these six ships, the company has four other owned/leased ships sailing in Europe and Russia and the MS La Marguerite sailing the Mekong River in Vietnam and Cambodia. This tour and profile of the Amalegro provides a good overview of the ship and the cruise line. Amalegro Tulip Time Cruise Travel Log One of my favorite spring cruise ideas is a river cruise of the Netherlands and Belgium. AMAWaterways has a 9-day, port-intensive, river cruise that sails round trip from Amsterdam from late March through early May--a perfect time to see the tulips and other spring bulb flowers in bloom. Join me on a memorable voyage on the AMAWaterways Amalegro. AMAWaterways Amalegro Cabins and Suites The cabins and suites on the Amalegro are larger than on many river ships, and the bathroom has the best shower I've ever seen on any ship. (It doesn't take much to make me happy, but I love a good shower.)
