Birthdays

From Donna Pilato, your Guide to Entertaining
October is always such a busy month for me. Just as I feel settled into the new school routine, it's time to turn my attention to my daughter and husband's birthdays, and then Halloween! Good thing this is one of the longer months in the year. Have an Entertaining week!

Do-It-Yourself Autumn Centerpieces
At this time of the year, one can't help but marvel at nature's bounty. Not only are we gifted with the autumn harvest for our plates, we're also given some of the most impressive ingredients for decorating our homes, easily and inexpensively. Here are ways to use them for all of your autumn parties.

Time for an Apple Theme Dinner Party
We went apple picking recently and so our home is filled with fresh, crisp apples from a local farm. Before they turn mushy, I need to find a good way to use them at their peak. I baked an apple cake the other day, and will probably bake an apple pie tomorrow. But you haven't seen our pile of apples! I'm going to have to try a lot harder than that to use them up, which is why it's time for An Apple Theme Dinner Party.

Party Countdown Checklist
This year we're hosting a sleepover party for my daughter's birthday. The party is now less than two weeks away and I'm entering the more serious planning stages. It's time to refer to my party countdown checklist. At least I can check off the first item, sending out the invitations, right on schedule. Onto the next million things to do before the big event.

Have a Pink Party for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and in support of that cause, I wanted to highlight ways that we can raise awareness while we entertain. There are many companies that will donate a portion of the proceeds from sales of pink products sold specifically for this cause. Here are my picks for pink products you can use while entertaining that will benefit the cause both in terms of awareness and financial donations.
