About Today: Happy Birthday, Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens, born 200 years ago today, had no idea his writings would become timeless classics; in fact, like many young writers he was unsure if his work was even publishable. He described his first manuscript as "dropped stealthily one evening at twilight, with fear and trembling, into a dark letter box, in a dark office, up a dark court in Fleet Street." I think that worked out just fine for him, don't you?
