Get Ready to Diamond-Watch at the Oscars
The Academy Awards are less than a week away, and are always one of the best annual events for diamond-watching. And emerald-watching. And platinum-watching. You get the idea... designer jewelry always rocks the Oscars red carpet. Save this link -- it takes you to a location that lets you branch off to many years of Academy Awards jewelry galleries, including 2012. Those photos will begin to appear when festivities begin on February 26th.

Get to Know The Four Cs
When jewelers mention The Four Cs of diamonds, they're referring to cut, color, clarity and carat weight. All four are important elements to consider when you shop for a diamond. You can shuffle those qualities around just like you do to alter ingredients for a favorite dish -- add a little more of this, a little less of that, to find the 'best' diamond. Learn about the Four Cs before you diamond-watch at the Academy Awards.

All About Emerald, May's Birthstone
Emeralds were a big hit at last year's Academy Awards, and most were combined with diamonds and platinum. Amy Adams wore an emerald pendant and emerald watch bracelet, and Reese Witherspoon and Annette Bening both accessorized with emerald earrings.

What's Your Favorite Precious Metal?
Everyone has a favorite precious metal, one we gravitate back to even if we wear something else occasionally. Do you choose a metal by its color or by its content? If you like white metals you have multiple choices. Three are sterling silver, white gold and platinum. If you like yellow metals you probably wear a lot of gold -- it's a versatile metal and its color can be changed dramatically depending on the other metals that are added to it.
