 | Last fall I enjoyed a Moselle River cruise on the Avalon Tranquility. Before I sailed the Moselle (Mosel in Germany), I didn't know much about the river other than it runs north from France through Luxembourg into Germany. It flows into the Rhine River at Koblenz. Central Europe Cruise Tour on the Avalon Tranquility
River ships like those of Avalon Waterways often include stays in both Paris and Prague as part of a Moselle/Rhine River cruise tour. We boarded the Avalon Tranquility near Trier, and loved the scenic route through picturesque villages and vineyards lining the steep hills that drop into the river.

Built in 2007, the Avalon Tranquility is 443 feet long and has 81 cabins and 4 suites. The river vessel carries 170 passengers and 43 crew members. She's a lovely, comfortable ship, and well designed for European river cruising.
| Avalon Panorama - Avalon Waterways' Newest Ship
Avalon Waterways launched its newest ship, the Avalon Panorama, in May 2011. The most interesting new feature is the size and configuration of the 64 Panorama "suites", which are the most prevalent type of stateroom on the Avalon Panorama. These staterooms measure 200 square feet and have sliding glass windows covering the exterior wall. When the doors are open, it's like the whole room is a French balcony.
