From Arthur Levine, your Guide to Theme Parks
OK, park fans. The 2011 season is now in full swing. Let's shine the About.com Theme Parks spotlight on Valleyfair and Magic Springs this week, shall we?

Valleyfair Hits Coaster Peaks
Located near Minnesota's Twin Cities, Valleyfair features a good collection of wooden coasters including Renegade, the classic High Roller, and the hybrid wood and steel Excalibur. Valleyfair's well-regarded Wild Thing hypercoaster soars over 200 feet and reaches a top speed of 74 mph. It's not all about the coasters, however. This season, the park has renamed and expanded its kiddie area, now known as Planet Snoopy, with six new Peanuts-themed rides and seven re-themed rides. Read more about Valleyfair.

Arkansas Theme Park Springs to Life
Each spring, seasonal parks reopen their gates to the delight of coaster and ride fans. Like nearly every other US park, Arkansas' major park, Magic Springs, is now open daily. Among its highlights are X-Coaster, a unique thrill ride that shuttles riders forwards and backwards on a relatively short looping circuit and includes a harrowing inversion at 150 feet. General admission to Magic Springs also includes access to its water park as well a concert series with national acts. Read more about Magic Springs.

Best Water Parks at Theme Parks
Theme parks and water parks used to be separate entities. If you wanted to ride coasters and carousels, you went to the theme park; if you craved water slide fun and relief from the heat, you headed to the water park. The idea of combining the two concepts seemed crazy. (But not that crazy. After all, water frolickers have been riding coasters at traditional seaside and lakeside amusement parks for years.) Today, you had better bring along your bathing suit, since most theme parks offer onsite water parks. Discover the best water parks that are included in admission at North American theme parks.
