From Arthur Levine, your Guide to Theme Parks
One of the most charming traditional amusement parks in the nation, Lake Compounce is a joy. Let's shine the About.com Theme Parks spotlight on the Connecticut park. Also, we want to know what ticks you off at theme parks. And, Florida will be getting a new indoor water attraction, Ferrari World is revving up, and Legoland Florida is laying its bricks.

Lots to Like at Lake Compounce
Instead of the high-energy hustle found at larger parks, Lake Compounce has a more laid-back, agreeable rhythm--which harkens back to its 19th-century origins. Beyond the nostalgia and beautiful surroundings however, Lake Compounce has a great assortment of unique rides, including Boulder Dash, one of the world's best wood coasters.

What Ticks YOU Off at Theme Parks?
Crummy food, outrageous parking fees, maddening discounts, and lazy ride ops are just some of the things that drive me bonkers at parks. I let off some steam about them in my Z-Tickets rant. But what about you? What Ticks YOU Off at Parks?

Surf's Up--and Inside--in Central Florida
In an area renowned for fantasy, the new Fantasy Surf will bring boogie boarding and surfing to Central Florida's theme park corridor--even though the ocean is miles away. Scheduled to open in October, the indoor attraction will offer twin FlowRiders, which simulate waves by generating steady sheets of water up an incline. Depending on their skill levels, riders will be able to challenge the waves either by body boarding (in which riders are prone on their stomachs) or stand-up surfing. Read more about Fantasy Surf.
