From Linda Garrison, your Guide to Cruises
Earlier this summer I sailed the Mediterranean on Holland America's newest ship, the Nieuw Amsterdam. I thought this might be a good time to re-visit her older sister ship, the Eurodam.

Eurodam Cruise Ship Tour
The 2104-passenger Eurodam is the same length and width as the Holland America Vista class ships, but she has one more deck, which adds 63 more staterooms. The Eurodam was launched in July 2008.

Like the Nieuw Amsterdam, the 11-deck Eurodam is Holland America's largest ship with more public areas, restaurants and cabins than any of the other 13 ships in the fleet.

Eurodam Common Areas
The ship's public areas are a mixture of contemporary and classic, and are filled with interesting artwork, both modern and from the Dutch Golden Age. Fresh flowers dot the corridors, and even the elevator doors are spectacular.

Dining on the Eurodam
My husband Ronnie and I loved the variety of dining venues on the Eurodam. Our favorite restaurant was a new one--Tamarind, which serves exquisite Pan-Asian dishes in a spectacular restaurant high up on deck 11. Even with a fee, this one books up quickly, and it's well worth the extra charge.

Eurodam Caribbean Cruise Travel Log
Our Eurodam cruise was a wonderful seven-day getaway, with a good mix of time at sea and time in port. We visited Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas, Grand Turk, San Juan, and St. Thomas--all great ports of call.
