Dr. Beach's Best Beaches "Dr. Beach" is Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman, a scientist who's studied beaches for years, and who uses 50 "beach criteria" to "diagnose" a shore for his annual list. (He's also a scientist who'll pose on the sand with a stethoscope and conch shell.) Check out his Best Beaches of 2011, along with some tips for families visiting these beautiful spots.
