From Betsy Malloy, your Guide to California Travel
This week's potpourri includes a photo of some cowboys in one of California's best ghost towns, a question from a visitor who can't believe the weather and a preview of what's coming up in June.

Can We Help?
Spontaneity can be fun sometimes, but if you try the spontaneous approach for some of California's best things to do, you may find yourself out of luck. The best seats for Laguna Beach's Pageant of the Masters in July can sell out by January, you have to enter a lottery in November to get a spot at Yosemite's High Sierra Camps in summer and it takes extraordinary planning skills to figure out when you have to reserve a state or national park campsite.

We're all busy these days, and who has time to keep track of all that? Well... we do because it's our job and we'd be happy to help, but we don't want to clog up your inbox with something you don't want.

Please answer this subscriber-only poll and tell us what you want us to do. Would you like to get an extra, once-monthly newsletter with reminders that it's time to make reservations for future events?

Can I leave my winter coat and gloves at home?" more

California in June
In June, you can listen to some great music, watch hot air balloons take off or enjoy a classic car show. See what's going on
