From Carly Wickell, your Guide to Jewelry
Emerald City... we can dream about such a destination, and it would be an especially good trip for babies born in May, since green beryl (AKA emerald) is their special gemstone (not that you need an excuse to buy gemstones).

All About Emerald

This emerald pendant was an 80th birthday gift for the Chinese Emperor Qianlong, in 1791, and by late 2007 its value was estimated at about $3.7 million dollars.

A fine emerald can be more expensive than a diamond of the same carat weight, but not all emeralds are valuable, and you can assume that the emeralds you find in most jewelry have been treated in some way to make them more attractive (that's a good reason to learn emerald basics before you go shopping).

You don't have to be a May baby to love green beryl, the gemstone we know as emerald. Use this link to find emerald earrings, pendants, bracelets, rings and more.

Do You Love Aquamarine?
Aquamarine is another member of the beryl family, but forms in a different color than its green cousin. Colors range from pale to vivid blue, and some aquamarines have shades of green thrown in.
