 | Last week we flew into Frankfurt airport and made our way south, ending up for a few nights in Uberlingen on the shores of Lake Constance, which is rapidly becoming my favorite lake in Europe. It's odd, but the variety of interesting things to do on Lake Constance never seems to have taken hold with Americans--you almost never hear English spoken here. We've prepared a virtual tour of Uberlingen and the surrounding area, including the interesting Lake Dwelling Museum, where you can see reconstructions of Bronze age habitation and working spaces--all in stilts above the lake. A Virtual Tour of Uberlingen on Lake Constance
Uberlingen is one of the larger towns on the lake, and yet, if you pick the right hotel, you get the impression you're in a compact spa town with vast public gardens and a sea promenade bursting with flowers and lined with restaurants and cafes. It's a town that takes pleasure and wellness seriously--and it's big enough to make a base for your exploration of the Lake Constance area, which borders Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.

| Exploring Switzerland's Ticino
The Ticino is Switzerland's Italian speaking Canton. We drove through it to La Lunigiana, our base in Italy. It's always a relief to reach it, because we know when we stop for lunch or a coffee that we'll be able to speak a language we know.
