Chinese Salads
Salads have gotten considerably more sophisticated since the Greeks seasoned their wild herbs with a bit of salt. Chinese salads can be hot or cold, bland or hot and spicy, an appetizer or a complete one-dish meal. Learn more about Chinese salads and try some recipes, including Chinese chicken salad and a Spicy Szechuan Noodle dish.

Chinese Potato Salad
Chinese seasonings and bok choy make this fusion recipe a flavorful alternative to standard potato salad. It would go nicely with Spareribs With Hoisin Sauce.

Easy Hot and Sour Soup
Classic Hot and Sour Soup uses a number of exotic Chinese vegetables, including dried lily buds. In this video Gretchen Siegchrist shows how to prepare a simpler version that uses canned bamboo shoots (easy to find in the international or ethnic section at most supermarkets), but still has a tangy hot and sour sauce.

Shrimp and Vegetable Stir-fry
Shrimp is paired with canned baby corn, snow peas and red bell pepper in this recipe from Jaden Hair. The sauce calls for Tsingtao beer, but you can substitute wine or vegetable broth.
