From Linda Garrison, your Guide to Cruises
Those of us who are baby boomers and were in high school or college during the Vietnam War (called the American War in Vietnam) have strong memories of Vietnam. Today, many of those places whose names we first learned in the 1960's can be visited on a cruise to Southeast Asia and Vietnam.

Ho Chi Minh City Tour
Many of the residents of Ho Chi Minh City still refer to it by its traditional name--Saigon, and the previous name is still emblazoned on most t-shirts for sale. Cruise ships dock near Saigon, and provide various tours of the city and surrounding countryside.

The Streets of Saigon
The streets of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) are busy and continually gridlocked with millions of motorbikes. I'll never complain about the "crazy" drivers in Atlanta again!

Cu Chi Tunnels in Vietnam
In addition to being an underground pedestrian highway, 6,000 Vietnamese lived, worked, and fought the Americans from the Cu Chi Tunnels during the mid-1960's to 1975. Today, in addition to exploring the area above ground, you can even walk/crawl in the dark through about 165 feet of these old tunnels.

Vietnam Travel Log from Crystal Symphony Cruise
I sailed Southeast Asia on the luxury ship Crystal Symphony, and the voyage was often filled with sensory overload on many days in port, with too many sights, sounds, and smells to take in all at once. Sailing on this lovely ship was certainly a wonderful way to see this fascinating part of the world.
