 | As I write, I'm looking at the Euro widget I have on my desktop here in northern Tuscany. It says a Euro now costs $1.26. Despite the EU's attempt to prop up the Euro, the Dollar is managing to stay strong, so travel to Europe is becoming cheaper. Hurray for that. | |
Mirepoix Pictures
Little Mirepoix in France's Ariege department gets my vote for the most evocative Medieval core; the "place des Couvents" is quite compelling, with carved beams and arcades to protect you from the elements as you stroll through the medieval center of town. Take a look; I'm sure you'll be impressed.

Ok, so I'm not a mountain biker. But still, I'm really impressed with the facilities in central Portugal. In fact, I've been told it's where competitive bikers go for fun. I've got information on the facilities, a recommended place to stay, and some folks who can guide you or rent you a bike.
| Madeira Island: Open for Tourism
I've recently visited Madeira and had a great time. It's one of those places where you can decide to be on an active vacation and still feel relaxed. But what about those pesky floods of February, 2010? Well, there are a few scars, and some trails are still damaged, but the island is ready for you!
