| | As many of you know, I check the Apple refurb store every week, looking for bargains I can pass on to About: Macs readers. This week marks the first time that refurbished iPad 2s have been available in the store. You can find more info in the Mac News & Events section of this newsletter. I spent part of the extended weekend looking at how to get Lion's sidebar working the way I want it to. I particularly wanted to recreate the smart searches I've come to rely on. Smart searches let me easily pick up where i left off by showing me all the items I was working on in a specific date range. The other part of the long weekend was spent with family and friends, and toasting the unofficial end of summer. Which reminds me: Fall is just around the corner, and with fall comes our annual Halloween spooktacular here at About Macs. The version of Disk Utility bundled with OS X 10.5 and later has some notable new features, specifically, the ability to add, delete, and resize hard drive partitions without first erasing the hard drive.
