Vegan weddings have obviously been in the news lately, but most of us who weren't invited to Chelsea's vegan wedding have to face awkward social situations on a regular basis. Here's a new one: What to do when you're the date, rather than the invitee? | Mercury in 100% of fish tested A recent testing of fish in the US found mercury in 100% of fish tested, even in "rural waterways", ie. the middle of nowhere. Yikes! Us vegetarians can sit back and smugly say well yes, we know, one more reason not to eat fish. But, um, I'm kind of fond of drinking water. | Quorn: Evil frankenfood? Or victim of pro-meat lobbying? Quorn is a quite popular meat substitute in the UK, but when it came to the states in 2002 it was met with criticism. Ah, the fusion of capitalism and democracy once again favors big businesses (ie. the meat industry) and their lobbyists while crushing the little guy (ie. the meat substitute companies).
