| | Desserts and Baking Blog Forum Email Fall is my favorite time of year, not only for the cooler temperatures, but for the food I get at the local fairs. If you aren't able to get to your local fair, don't worry. I've got recipes for some of my favorite fall fair food. Enjoy! | | Funnel Cake There are two foods I just have to have at a fair: corn dogs and funnel cakes. There's nothing like a big 'ol hunk-en corn dog dipped in mustard, washed down with freshly made lemonade and followed-up with, you guessed it, a funnel cake. Funnel cakes are good just with powdered sugar or topped with cinnamon and apple pie filling. Eating an antacid later is a good idea, too. | Caramel Apples Another must, if I plan to be at a fair all day. Lately, it's been more of the after school, 4 p.m., until 9:00 p.m. time at the fair for me. I can only eat so much in a couple of hours. The best caramel apples are rolled in chopped, salted peanuts. | Candied Apples Candied Apples are the ones with the deep red-crunchy outsides. They're a little spicy, too. | Fried Pies You can't always find fried pies at a regular fair or carnival. I generally find them at local festivals, which may or may not have big rides like Ferris wheels. They're easy enough to make at home with this recipe. | | | | Desserts / Baking Ads | | | | Featured Articles | | | | | | Sign up for more free newsletters on your favorite topics | | | | You are receiving this newsletter because you subscribed to the About Desserts/Baking newsletter.
