One person's crisp, green salad is as comforting as another's bowl of mashed potatoes. I lived in Hawaii several years ago and the most popular dishes in my house were oyster chicken with broccoli, and Mongolian beef, both served over steamed jasmine rice. It was wonderful, but not what most people would consider heavenly comfort food.
