Tips & Tricks

From Tom Nelson, your Guide to Macs
January 6th marks the debut of the Mac App Store, which Apple hopes will make finding, buying, and installing Mac applications as simple as clicking on a 'Buy' button.

One major concern, at least for developers, is whether the Mac App Store will start a race to the bottom for the prices of Mac apps, as the iOS App Store has done for iOS apps. What do you think will happen? Let us know!

Readers' Choice Awards 2011 - Our Biggest Awards Yet
It's almost time once again for the annual Readers' Choice Awards. This year, the Readers' Choice Awards have been expanded to include everything from cars to travel. And, just like last year, About: Macs is participating.

Starting Jan 13th, you'll be able to nominate your favorite Mac applications in 7 different categories: System Utilities, Backup Applications, Browsers, Applications for Running Windows, Word Processors, Image Editors, and new this year, Mac Home Theater Applications or Products.

If you have a favorite application that should be on the list of finalists to win the Readers' Choice Awards 2011, then get ready to make your nominations next week.

And spread the word; the more nominations received, the larger the voting field may be for the various categories.
