After a long and often brutal (in many parts of the US anyhow) winter, it's finally--FINALLY!--time for some seasonal amusement parks to open. While we still may officially be in winter's grip, some parks are already celebrating spring break by opening their turnstiles. Among the parks revving up the flywheels on their coasters' lift hill chains are Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Six Flags Over Georgia, Wild Adventures, Six Flags Over Texas, and Six Flags Fiesta Texas Can somebody say amen? Kennywood to Launch New Coaster Pennsylvania's Kennywood won't open until May 7. But it'll be worth the wait when the traditional park opens the decidedly non-traditional Sky Rocket launched coaster. It will use linear synchronous motor (LSM) technology to launch passengers from 0 to 50 mph in 3 seconds. Gentlemen, Start Your (Coaster) Engines- New Coaster Pic Ferrari World Abu Dhabi won't open until the second half of this year.
