From Linda Garrison, your Guide to Cruises
South America is filled with cruise ships and tourists this time of year. It's one of my favorite cruise destinations, and Iguazu Falls on the Brazil/Argentina border is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. The big debate is -- which side is better to view the falls from, Argentina or Brazil?

Iguazu National Park in Brazil
Iguazu National Park in Brazil is a great side trip for cruise travelers visiting Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, or Rio de Janeiro. The park surrounds the Iguazu River dividing Brazil and Argentina. Although the 275 huge waterfalls are the major attraction, both parks have an extensive network of hiking trails and a rain forest park with a diverse ecosystem.

Iguazu Falls in Argentina
The Iguazu Falls mark the border between Argentina and Brazil. Extending for 2 miles and with a drop of over 200 feet, the sights and sounds of these falls on the Iguazu River should not be missed by anyone cruising to South America.

The flight from Buenos Aires to the airport in Puerto Iguazu is only about an hour, and there are hotels of all price ranges near (or in) the Iguazu National Park.
