From Donna Pilato, your Guide to Entertaining
I've been busy making my list and checking it twice. And boy are there a lot of to-do's for the holidays on that list. First order of business will be to decorate the house to create a festive mood for everything else. You have to start somewhere, right? Have an Entertaining week!

Host a Holiday Tapas Cocktail Party
Sipping cocktails, nibbling on hors d'oeuvres, chatting with friends, and listening to festive music - doesn't that sound like a great holiday party? It almost does, except sometimes I think it takes a little spin on the familiar to make a party memorable. That's why this year I'm thinking a holiday tapas cocktail party will be the perfect way to add something different to an already great idea.

Plan a Tree Trimming Party
I believe that one of the smartest Christmas parties you can host is a Tree Trimming Party. This is the kind of party that keeps expectations low. Guests arrive expecting that your home won't be decorated, plus you may even get them to help out. Of course you'll reward them for their trouble with some yummy holiday food, but that's a small price to pay if you're a decorating procrastinator like myself.

Welcoming Holiday Houseguests
Some people I know think you need to buy new mattresses and bedding when you prepare for houseguests (you know who you are). But you really don't need to go to that extreme to make your guests feel comfortable. There are many less expensive things you can do to prepare to make the visit comfortable for both you and your guests.

Organize a Christmas Season Brunch
When part of your holidays involves traveling to see family, the number of nights you have available for parties are limited. Luckily a Christmas season brunch will open up extra time for holiday festivities and gives a fun alternative to the traditional holiday party.
