From Donna Pilato, your Guide to Entertaining
The end of summer is now approaching quickly. It's time to help your kids say good-bye to the season and get in the mindset for school. As you plan your upcoming parties this fall, you might want to consider the reader tip I share this week on how to motivate your guests to RSVP, unless you're one of the rare few that has no problem getting your guests to commit. Have an Entertaining week!

How to Motivate Your Guests to RSVP
I can't help but shake my head as I look at the heading of this post. Why should invited guests need more than your invitation to want to RSVP to your party? And yet, so many readers are frustrated by the lack of responses to a request for an RSVP. That's why I'm sharing this tip, submitted by a reader, about how to motivate your guests to respond to your RSVP request. I suppose it's better to do this than to over or under prepare refreshments when you don't know how many guests to expect.

Plan a Back-to-School Party
Before I begin, shoo any kids out of the room. Okay, if the room is clear we can have a serious talk about back-to-school season. For some this is a sad time because it means summer is over. For other parents, well, things will be looking up once order is returned with the kids back at school. But for most kids I know, it's a scary time of anticipation. That's why I believe a Back-to-School Party helps to calm the jitters. If you are one of those parents celebrating, just be sure to do it when the kids aren't looking.

Write a Review of Your Favorite Entertaining Cookbook
There are cookbooks we turn to for everyday types of recipes. But then there are the cookbooks we go to when we want to cook something a little special for our guests. You're invited to share with other readers your reviews of those cookbooks you turn to when entertaining.

Planning a Housewarming Party
After a long period of "for sale" signs in my neighborhood, I'm finally noticing a lot of moving trucks rolling through our streets. This is definitely the time of year when folks are changing homes, before the new school year begins. After the trucks leave, and the boxes are unpacked, the next order of business for my new neighbors will be to welcome friends to their new home with a Housewarming Party.
