| | The Costa Deliziosa is the first new cruise ship of 2010. After leaving Italy, she sailed through the Suez Canal to Dubai, where she was officially named last week. I attended this gala christening event, which was a wonderful blend of Arab and Italian cultures. | | Costa Deliziosa Christening Event in Dubai The Costa Deliziosa was the first cruise ship christened in an Arab city. Costa and Dubai combined for a marvelous show with entertainment ranging from Arabian dancing horses to Italian opera singers. Of course, the traditional formal ceremony of the naming of the ship was a major part of the event. | Costa Deliziosa Christening Photo Gallery One unusual twist to the traditional breaking of a bottle of sparkling wine across the bow of the new ship was that Costa used a bottle of "special date juice" to christen the Costa Deliziosa and to show respect for Arab customs. This photo gallery includes a snapshot of the bottle breaking, along with 41 other pictures from the christening event. | Costa Deliziosa Overview and Ship Tour We only had time for a quick tour of the Costa Deliziosa while she was in Dubai for her christening. The Costa Cruises' CEO stated in a press conference that the new ship was designed for Costa's high end customers, and the ship does have expensive-looking furnishings and fixtures. She should be a great new flagship for this Italian cruise line. | Costa Deliziosa Photo Gallery My first impression was that the ship was brightly colored and had both lovely and striking, diverse rooms. The decor, treatment offerings, and size of the Samsara Spa were especially impressive. These 36 photos of the Costa Deliziosa provide a look at many of the common areas of the ship. | | | | Cruises Ads | | | | Featured Articles | | | | | | Sign up for more free newsletters on your favorite topics | | | | You are receiving this newsletter because you subscribed to the About Cruises newsletter.
