From Jolinda Hackett, your Guide to Vegetarian Food
Yes, there's more to a vegetarian Thanksgiving than Tofurky, but that doesn't mean it's not a great place to start! What's on your Thanksgiving menu this year? Post in the forum to let us know!

All about Tofurky
Thanksgiving is coming quickly! Are you ready for the most important meal of the year? This food-centered holiday is just as important (and fun!) for us vegetarians and vegans, even without the turkey. Some vegetarians and vegans are perfectly happy to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal without the turkey centerpiece, while others prefer to prepare a vegetarian mock turkey substitute. While Tofurky (pictured) is the most popular mock turkey (and has the best name!) there are several other brands available. Here's some resources to help you with your Tofurky this Thanksgiving:

Homemade Tofu Turkeys
If you prefer to make your own mock turkey rather than buy one pre-made, here are a few loaf recipes to try. Each of these recipes is absolutely delicious, but don't expect them to have the same appearance or consistency as a real turkey. Serve topped with a vegetarian gravy and a side of stuffing. If mock meats aren't your things, check out my complete list of vegetarian and vegan Thanksgiving recipes for other entree ideas, such as stuffed acorn squash and more.

Beer Can Tofurky!
I have to admit, I've never really had the urge to cook my Tofurky by using a beer can, but apparently Beer Can Turkey is all the rage, and now us vegetarians can join in with this technique for cooking a Beer Can Tofurky. Um, if we want to. Beer Can Turkey is usually cooked on the grill, though it can be oven roasted, too, and this Beer Can Tofurky recipe uses a combination of grilling and roasting for maximum flavor. If beer isn't your thing, the recipe notes that another kind of carbonated beverage would work just as well. Try ginger ale or root beer.
