From Tom Nelson, your Guide to Macs
If you're in the market for a desktop Mac, and you have a spare monitor, put the 2011 Mac mini on your short list. The new mini is a winner. I give it high praise for its performance, features, and price.

This was my first week using the official release of Lion, and I have a few tips to share. I also invite you to let us know what issues, if any, you've had with installing or using Lion. I've had good results so far, although I also have a complaint or two about some new features.

2011 Mac mini Review: This Could Be the Best Mac mini Yet
The 2011 Mac mini received performance upgrades involving new Intel Dual-Core i5 or i7 processors. With this upgrade, Apple transitioned its entire product line away from the older Core 2 Duo architecture, and embraced the newest offerings from Intel.

How to Re-Download the Lion Installer
After installing Lion, many individuals decide they should create a bootable DVD or flash drive of the Lion installer. I couldn't agree more; it's a terrific idea to have a bootable version of the installer handy. With it, you can boot your Mac in an emergency, perform basic repairs, or even reinstall the Lion OS. The solution is to re-download the Lion installer from the Mac App Store, but even this can be a bit tricky... Read more

Moving to OS X Lion
I've made the change to Lion as my primary OS, although I still have boot drives with Snow Leopard and Leopard, so I can support About: Macs readers who are still using the older versions of the Mac OS.

So far, I'm impressed overall with Lion and its performance, but there are a few things that nag at me, and that I'm finding ways to fix or get around. I'll be adding Lion tips and tricks, sharing what I like and don't like about Lion. But in the meantime, have you upgraded to Lion yet? Let us know how the install process went, and if you have any issues with Lion... Read more

Share Your Mac's Screen on Your Network
Screen sharing is the process of allowing users at a remote computer to see what is happening on your Mac's screen. Mac screen sharing also allows you to remotely view and take control of another Mac's screen.

This can be very handy for getting or giving help with troubleshooting a problem, getting answers to questions about how to use an application, or simply accessing something on your Mac from another computer.

Macs come with built-in screen sharing capabilities, which can be accessed from the Sharing preference pane... Read more
