Roller Coasters

From Arthur Levine, your Guide to Theme Parks
Now that many coasters are powered by launch technology as opposed to the traditional lift hill and gravity, height isn't necessarily a key feature of thrill machines. But there are some insanely tall coasters out there.

Things Are Looking Up for Coasters
In 1989, Cedar Point crossed the previously unthinkable 200-foot coaster height threshold when it introduced Magnum XL-200 (which actually soars 205 feet). Today, the legendary coaster doesn't even crack the top ten on the list of the world's highest coasters--although two of Cedar Point's other coasters do make the cut.
