| | Happy Thanksgiving to all stateside theme park fans. Not to get all Mr. Rogers on you, but, among the things on my Thanksgiving list, I'm thankful that YOU are here as part of the About.com Theme Parks community. | | Giving Thanks for Parks (Sorry, No Turkeys) I've complied a list of some of the things for which I'm giving thanks in the world of theme parks. Looking for some turkey-baiting snark? Keep looking. Sometimes it's good to remember that what brings us together here at About.com's Theme Parks site is our shared passion for parks--and that there is much to enjoy and praise. After you check out my Thanksgiving list, how about sharing some of your favorite theme park things by clicking on the "Comments" link at the bottom of the blog. For those who participate, I'll offer my hearty thanks. | Six Flags Coasts into 50th Year In 1961, a few years after Disneyland debuted, Six Flags Over Texas opened and introduced the seasonal, regional park concept. 50 years later, the Six Flags chain has grown (and contracted occasionally) to include locations throughout North America. For its 50th anniversary year, the parks will be keeping their focus pretty much where they have been for most of the past half-century: on roller coasters and other thrills. The Six Flags 2011 Ride Guide lists all of the new goodies that have been announced chain wide to date, including the Dare Devil Dive "euro fighter" coaster coming to Six Flags Over Georgia and the Green Lantern coasters coming to Six Flags great Adventure and Six Flags Magic Mountain.
