From James Martin, your Guide to Europe Travel
While the sun shines here in California, we've just heard of the snow in Chianti--over a meter has been recorded in some spots. While you may think it's time for bears to hibernate as I did, in fact the number of Bears in Bern's BearPark doubled with the birth of twins, and we snagged some pictures. Plus, one of my favorite seldom-visited neighborhoods of Rome is Testaccio. I visited last December and prepared a step-by-step presentation of its charms. See below and enjoy your weather, whatever it's doing out there.

Testaccio: A Roman Neighborhood
Centered around a hill made of smashed-up amphorae, Testaccio represents the quintessential Roman neighborhood, with its own cuisine born out of the "Fifth Quarter" nasty bits from the stockyard, which has been made into a contemporary art museum. Our walk through Testaccio will also take us through Rome's Ghetto, where the cuisine and architecture changes dramatically. Join us for the ride.

Meet Bern's New Bears: Bjork's Cubs
What's cuter than bear cubs? Twin bear cubs? See the pictures from Bern, Switzerland's new BearPark.

Traveler's Tales of Scotland
Our readers tell us about the great times they've had visiting Scotland. Read and dream, or add your own story.

Medieval People
In some ways, these are some of my favorite photos of people in medieval garb at an Italian festival, complete with archery contest.
