From Teresa Plowright, your Guide to Family Vacations
There's more than one way to combine volunteering and vacationing... and Mickey's come up with a creative approach.

Volunteers Get Free Disney Theme Park Days
600,000 people have already signed up for this "Give a Day, get a Disney Day" program: volunteers who give a day of service in their community get a free ticket to a theme park at Walt Disney World in Florida or Disneyland Resort in California. The tix go to the first one million volunteers, so if you're planning to participate, don't wait! Many families are volunteering together.

Caribbean Resort: Volunteer, Get a Resort Credit
Another approach to volunteering: the luxury Westin St. John resort has a great location on St. John in the US Virgin Islands, near the National Park that takes up thre-quarters of the island. During spring break months, families can volunteer in the Park and get a $100 resort credit.

Voluntourism and Family Vacations
About.com's Young Adults site has tips about meaningful volunteer vacations with older teens, college kids, and 20somethings. Some organizations cater to families with younger kids as well, and these tips will apply whatever your family make-up.

Caribbean All Inclusive Resort
The Coconut Bay Resort in St. Lucia is just one of many great all inclusive resort choices for families in the Caribbean. What's it got going for it? Good price point. Lazy river and waterslides. Roomy kids' center with plenty for the kids to do. Five-minute drive from the airport. Chance to explore scenic St. Lucia including "drive-through volcano". (And rave visitor reviews.)
