From Donna Pilato, your Guide to Entertaining
The past couple of weeks have been filled with good excuses to have a party. Now it's time to catch our breath and go over some of the basics of party planning, helpful for both the beginner and the more experienced host. Have an Entertaining week!

Begin with a Timetable
For the party host beginner, all the things you need to prepare for an event seem overwhelming. But if you can break down your to-do list into small parts, and put them on a timetable, you'll find yourself ready when the big day arrives.

Write and Send Your Invitations
Once you're organized it's time to take the big step and invite your guests. After that's done, you're really committed to making your party happen, no turning back.

The Pioneer Woman Cooks
We were buried in our house for a couple of days last week because of the blizzard. I told my husband that it made me feel like we were living in the pioneer days when the whole family was shut out from the world for months. His reply, "yeah, the pioneer woman with the computer, tv, and cell phone." Well, that puts it into perspective. However, Ree Drummond, author of "The Pioneer Woman Cooks" is much closer to the real thing, as I share in this review of her book.

Wordless Wednesday - Bridal Shower Party Favor Cake
This cake looks good enough to eat - but it's not! This elegant, dual purpose centerpiece and party favor cake is make from paper boxes. Each "slice" is filled with small chocolates. I was one of the lucky recipients of a slice at a bridal shower I attended recently.
