This has been a very unusual spring so far: the first few days in March were what one would expect, but april began with balmy temperatures that have quickly climbed into the 30s (that's 85-90 F) over much of Northern Italy. temperatures like these are frankly unheard of, and will everything bursting into bloom allergy sufferers are most unhappy, while the farmers and gardeners fear that these unusual temperatures will be followed by chills or even frosts that could do tremendous damage. It's very difficult to approach food without touching on drink -- they're two faces of a coin, so to speak, and one naturally leads to the other: Italian food without water or wine doesn't seem quite right, and then there's the coffee, and... You get the picture.
