Best of Europe

From James Martin, your Guide to Europe Travel
Ah, there's snow coming to northern California and getting to the airport in San Francisco is going to be a hassle. In any case, if all goes reasonably well, we're off to Europe Saturday for a stay of two months.

Fontainebleau Map and Guide
Sure, you can head to the Loire Valley and see many chateaux, but near Paris is a Royal palace consisting of a mere 1500 rooms set in the center of a forest separating it from Paris' urban sprawl. See the map, zoom out to check the location, and get information for visiting interdependently and for day trip tours out of Paris.

Torino Introduces Merenda Reale
What's a Merenda Reale? It's a Royal Snack. This summer you'll be able to get one in some pretty swank locations around Turin, Italy. Check it out by clicking the link above.

European Summer Festivals
If you want to see folks in medieval costumes, or people racing horses for sacred reason or just pride of community, or you just want to hear some jazz; summer in Europe is festival time, and here are some of our favorites.

How to Make Your Own Tours
Take advantage of the local tourist office and the services they provide--you can almost always find a way to get your own custom tour. See what you want when, that's the key to footloose independent travel.
