Florida Beaches and Deepwater Oil Spill
Tragically, BP's Deepwater Horizon oil spill continues to spew thousands of barrels of oil daily in the Gulf of Mexico. (To get an idea of the magnitude: If It Was My Home maps the size of the spill onto your own location.) Florida is one of the affected Gulf Coast states... Which Florida beaches have been most affected?
| Coming Soon: Hike in U.S. Passport Fees
Not much notice about this price jump: fee changes were announced on June 28, and they're kicking in July 13th. An adult passport will cost $135, instead of $100, and for kids under 16, the price rises from $85 to $105. Fees for passport renewals are jumping too. | Family Adventure Retreat; Kids Free at Caribbean Resorts
On a lighter note... Kids Stay Free at Almond Resorts all inclusives in Barbados; and Okemo ski resort has a Family Adventure Retreat in August, with loads of activities. How about a Tyrolean Traverse? (Family members pull themselves across a rope bridge above a ravine or waterfall). Or orienteering for adults,or kids-only mountain bike adventure...
