Built in 2004, the ship has interesting decor and wonderful common areas. I cruised with my family two summers ago on a northern European itinerary on the Jewel of the Seas and we all loved the ship and the ports of call. Join me on a pictorial tour of the Jewel of the Seas. Jewel of the Seas Pictorial Tour The Jewel of the Seas is a beautiful ship, with tastefully decorated interiors. Although the ship carries 2500 passengers, she seems spacious on the inside with plenty of space to get away from the crowds if you wish. Jewel of the Seas Cruise Travel Log - Northern Europe Trading the heat of the Georgia (or any other HOT location) summer for the coolness of the Norwegian fjords is a great idea for a summer cruise. In addition to the fjords, we saw parts of France, Scotland, and Ireland. This was a fascinating European cruise itinerary. Riding the Flam Railway in Norway Flam is one of the most popular cruise ports of call along the Norwegian fjords. We used the day to ride the famous Flam railway over and through the mountains of western Norway. What a lovely way to see some of the countryside! Alesund, Norway - A Day at the Geirangerfjord Alesund is a very pretty town in western Norway. We booked a ship's bus and ferry shore excursion to Geiranger, and saw some of the most magnificent scenery in the world along the way. The tour included rides on three ferries, including the famous one from Geiranger to Hellesylt down the Geirangerfjord.
