From Teresa Plowright, your Guide to Family Vacations
Right on time, on the Memorial Day Weekend, Dr. Beach released his annual list of "Best Beaches in America".

Dr. Beach's "Best Beaches in America" 2010
Top pick for 2010 is Cooper's Beach, the main beach in the village of Southampton on Long Island. "Dr. Beach" is Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman, an expert scientist who for over 20 years has studied shore erosion and storm impacts. He's also a scientist who'll pose on the sand with stethoscope, medical bag, and conch shell. Click above for his Best Beaches of 2010, along with some tips for families visiting these areas.

Fort Lauderdale -- See Sea Turtles
Fort Lauderdale, 23 miles north of Miami, is a major cruise port, upscale playground, the "Venice of America" -- not necessarily the place you associate with hatching sea turtles. Yet every year, thousands of giant turtles crawl onto the beaches at night and lay eggs in the sand; weeks later, tiny hatchlings dig out and dash to the sea. This summer, families can choose from several inexpensive guided tours that --hopefully-- will show visitors the awesome sight of a giant sea turtle making her nest. One tour lets visitors watch a hatchling release.

Family Vacation News - Bargains at Jamaica All-Inclusive Resorts
Sunset Resorts all-inclusives in Jamaica have a "Play in Paradise" sale that lasts until Dec. 22 2010: rates start at $100, and two kids stay free. Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort and Spa -- on the north coast of Jamaica, near Ocho Rios-- has multiple pools, waterslide, 1,300-foot private beach, watersports, and Club Mongoose for ages 2 to 12. Sister resort Sunset Beach Resort near Montego Bay features a water park, kids club, teen center, watersports...

LEGOLAND California Gets Water Park
LEGOLAND California -- located between LA and San Diego -- was already an ultra-fun place for kids, and has many times been named "Best Children's Park" by trade newspaper Amusement Today. New this summer: a 5.5 acre water park.
