Is Your Dad the Host with the Most?
Despite the usual Father's Day images of dad sitting back with his feet up on a lounge chair, a lot of the dads I know actually enjoy being the host, tending the barbecue and passing around the cold beverages. While I might suggest that you do the cooking for him on Father's Day, there are Father's Day gifts that would be perfect for the dad that loves to be the host.
| Plan Ahead for Gift Cards
There are certain events where gift cards or cards with a monetary gift are the norm. A wedding is one of the more obvious occasions, but so are anniversary or retirement parties. If you're planning an event for someone and you know they will be receiving gifts in cards, plan ahead so they don't have to walk around the entire time juggling cards while sharing hugs and handshakes.
| Do You Mind if a Host is Still Preparing After You Arrive?
A few weeks ago I mentioned in my newsletter how I feel more comfortable if I'm as prepared as possible when guests show up on my doorstep. Recently I spoke to a friend who told me about a party she attended where the hostess wasn't ready at all when guests, adults and children, showed up. My friend was both annoyed because she was hungry and none of the food had been placed on the buffet, and feeling like she had to help so that the food could be ready sooner than later. So that got me wondering how the rest of you feel around a laid back host or hostess. Take our poll and share your feelings.
| Celebrate Your Unique Dad
"One size fits all" is about the farthest statement from the truth when we think about our dads. So, put on your creative cap and think about how your dad would like to enjoy his day. Whatever you do, make sure your dad knows that you understand he has a unique set of talents and interests.
