Theme parks may have packed up their cobwebs, ominous graveyards, and other spooky artifacts, and sent their zombies, demented clowns, and assorted monsters back to the netherworlds from which they came. But many permanent rides and attractions of the bloodcurdling persuasion still remain. Thrill rides, mostly in the form of coasters, may be the kings of the midway, but dark rides have long played an important role -- the princes of darkness? -- at parks.
