From Zeke Quezada, your Guide to Las Vegas Travel
Sometime ago I looked at my father and I told him I would be skipping Thanksgiving dinner and that I would be going to Las Vegas. A part of him was disappointed I'm sure but another part had that look of the guy who could not sit still for too long for fear of never being able to get going again. "You better get going so that you don't get stuck in traffic."

Where Would I Stay in Las Vegas
That first Thanksgiving in Las Vegas was enough to make my future mother-in-law ignore my future wife for 2 weeks. We stayed at the King 8 Hotel, it's now called the Wild Wild West Gambling Hall. You have the option of some of the most lavish resorts in the country or some of the best appointed budget accommodations available anywhere. The beauty of Las Vegas is that you can still have an affordable vacation even if you are experiencing the good life.

Thanksgiving Dinner in Las Vegas?
Thanksgiving dinner in Las Vegas has since evolved since the first time I did it. My then girlfriend(she became my wife) and I had our Turkey at the Flamingo buffet and the we walked around like a couple of adventurous souls attempting to be different. These days every restaurant seems to have a special Thanksgiving menu that allows you to enjoy the meal without all the preparation. Our evening ended at the Circus Circus cafe eating one slice of apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

A Show in Las Vegas
On that first Thanksgiving in Las Vegas we stood across the street from the Mirage as it had just opened its doors. The heat from the erupting volcano was so intense I thought for sure my eyebrows were gone. I stood right beside the Philly Cheese-steak stand that had been there for years and that would eventually give way to the Venetian Hotel. That Las Vegas show was free and today you can still see it erupt on the Las Vegas strip.

Falling In Love With Las Vegas
You could say that one decision to head to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving formulated a plan for my wife-to-be and I to embrace our sense of adventure together. We would then get married and travel to remote places and seek out those wild experiences. We still however continue to visit Las Vegas together. These days I spend my time "working" as in eating, drinking and playing all to write about the city but every now and then we sit down to a meal together and it feels like we are two kids getting away for the first time. We feel like two kids excited about apple pie and winning a $76 dollar jackpot.
