| | I'm still adjusting to Daylight Saving Time. The only bright side to this annual madness is that I know spring and outside parties are just around the corner. Have an Entertaining week! | | Irish Potato Candy I had two fun cooking projects last weekend. The first one was for my daughter's math class on Monday. Math, food - where's the connection you might ask? Well, Monday was Pi Day and math teachers like to use this as an excuse for a party. I was volunteered to make Key Lime Pie, one of our favorite pie recipes. The other project was making Irish Potato Candy. It's become a tradition in this house that the first thing we do in preparation for our St. Patrick's Day Celebration is to make this tasty treat. And you can't mess with tradition! | Flower and Centerpiece Ideas and Resources When I was at the 2011 Philadelphia International Flower Show earlier this week, I was able to spend a little time among the numerous floral and plant vendors. The selection was overwhelming, and I could probably have spent an equal amount of time among the vendors as I did among the displays, but time was limited. However, I did find one vendor, Chive, that had the most interesting selection of vases. Some were perfect for single buds, others for larger bouquets. But I also thought they'd make interesting party favors if you placed one at each guest's setting. If you're thinking about trying your own hand at creating a centerpiece for your next party you'll find other ideas on this page of Flower and Centerpiece Ideas and Resources. | Best Ways to Make Short Work of Pre-Party Cleaning Most people would agree that one of the less pleasant tasks when preparing for a party is the need to clean and tidy your home. We want to put our best foot forward when we invite others into our home, and that usually necessitates at least a little tidying up of the everyday mess. Each of us has a few shortcuts for making our homes presentable. That's why I invite readers to share their tips for making light work of pre-party cleaning and read tips shared by other readers. | Cook Up a Taste of Ireland this Week I have a lot of things happening this week. It's my parents' birthdays (Happy Birthday Mom and Dad!) and my daughter's first drama performance at her middle school. But there's one event that is enjoyed by many more people than just my family - St. Patrick's Day! That's why I'm planning to make at least a few meals with a taste of Ireland this week. As a born and bred Italian cook, I'm very happy I can turn to Ireland's famous chef, Rachel Allen, for inspiration in cooking Irish cuisine in her delicious book "Favorite Food at Home by Rachel Allen." | | | | Entertaining Ads | | | | Featured Articles | | | | More from About.com | | | | | | Discover the Disney Dream Disney's newest cruise ship has something for every family member, from the Aqua Duck watercoaster to adults-only lounges.
