My earliest baking experiences were with my mother. She taught me how to cream my butters and sugars, the first step in making cookies. She was never afraid to try new and interesting desserts. Cooking, especially baking, was definitely a passion of hers. I'm so glad she passed her passion on to me. Thank you Mother. I miss you!

Pecan Pie
This was Mother's favorite dessert. Coincidentally, this is my mother-in-law's favorite too. I never cared for Pecan Pies because they were too sweet. This pie is different because it is loaded with nuts and flavored with brown sugar and butter. Yum.

Oatmeal Cookies
I knew it was a good day when I came home to the smell of Oatmeal Cookies. I remember eying them as Mother would put them on racks to cool on the dining room table.

Peanut Butter Fudge
Another good smell to look for when I got home was the smell of peanut butter fudge cooking. I also remember the lesson I learned about Peanut Butter Fudge, or all fudges for that matter, the pan and the fudge in the pan is very hot. Don't be like me and stick your finger in the pan to try the fudge. Ouch!

Boiled Peanuts
I have fond memories of traveling with my mom and dad. A road trip didn't go by without stopping at a roadside stand to buy warm boiled peanuts. Mother would travel with a towel in her lap so she wouldn't get messy eating them.
