 | Lots of new stuff this week, as we recover from our jet lag and start to put together a new portfolio of good places to visit. Our experiences weren't entirely rosy in traveling from Zurich to northern Tuscany, which leads us to issue a warning about Vignette in Austria (and Switzerland). Don't know what they are? Austrian Tourist Trap | Caught Without a Vignette
In driving from the Swiss side of Lake Constance towards Herrenchiemsee Palace in Germany we inadvertently drove through a wedge of Austria, where we got on an on-ramp to what we thought was a German Autobahn--but the on-ramp was in Austria, and shortly after we found ourselves in a parking lot patrolled by sharp-eyed police, a trap for folks who didn't have a vignette displayed on their windshield. Don't make this mistake. It cost us €120 to drive 200 meters. That's a lot.
