More Spring Break Ideas: Yosemite; Jekyll Island
Spring in Yosemite means waterfalls rushing down mountainsides as the spring thaw gains force. Spring also offers the chance to enjoy this sublime National Park without the crowds that flock there in summertime. Meanwhile, on the other side of the U.S. in Georgia, visitors can drive to Jekyll Island, a barrier island where spring temperatures average in the high 70s, and where visitors can enjoy birds and wildlife, scenic beaches, and a historic district from the Gilded Age.

Disneyland Planner
Disneyland, of course, is a hugely popular destination for spring break. This eight-step planner from About.com's Guide for California Travel includes down-to-earth advice such as a a "Financial Reality" page with a "Disneyland Cost Estimator" and money-saver tips.

Family Activities with Appalachian Mountain Club
Since 1876, the Appalachian Mountain Club has been championing the Great Outdoors, and now welcomes 150,000 guests a year to its lodges, huts, camps, and programs. Families can enjoy themed weekends or five-day adventures, with activities that range from guided hikes to kayaking in summer or snowshoeing in winter months. Guests can even borrow outerwear at an L.L. Bean gear room. This year, the AMC is adding "Kids Spoken Here" features that include special activities and reduced child and teen rates.

And finally.... Riveted by news from Japan after Friday's devastating earthquake, I only learned today that the tsunami also hit the shores of Hawaii's Big Island. Fortunately, Hawaii was spared major damage. At least one resort, however, was hard hit, on the west side of the Big Island: the Kona Village Resort,which is an unusual resort in a couple of ways...
