From Arthur Levine, your Guide to Theme Parks
Happy holidays everyone. May your days be merry and bright.

At the end of a speech at a Disneyland event, Walt Disney once said, "I just want to leave you with this thought, that it's just been sort of a dress rehearsal and we're just getting started." Decades later, the Happiest Place on Earth is still getting started with new rides and attractions. And the California theme parks that Disneyland inspired also have plenty of new goodies to offer.

Lots of Transforming at California Parks in 2012
Disney California Adventure, the second park at Disneyland Resort that has always been something of an underachieving kid brother to its older, more popular sibling across the plaza, will finally be ready to shake its small-fry persona when it wraps up its five-year transformation next year. It's amazing what a mere $1.1 billion can do to pump up a park, eh? DCA is generating major buzz for its new Pixar-lated Cars Land, which will feature the Radiator Springs Racers E-Ticket attraction.

Did somebody say "transformation?" Universal Studios Hollywood may have recently stolen its own 2012 thunder when it announced the transformative Harry Potter attractions that it will be bringing to its California park, but it's got a humdinger of a new attraction on the way next year with the highly anticipated Transformers ride. Think Spider-Man ride, v. 2.5.

But wait, there's more! With major coasters and a diabolical thrill ride also debuting, park fans may go crazy waiting for all of the goodness. Just try to stay sane as you read what's new at California theme parks for 2012.
