From Linda Garrison, your Guide to Cruises
Northern Europe and the Baltic States are marvelous cruise destinations. The cities are fascinating, and the summer days are long. However, this region of the world is expensive, so a cruise is an economical way to save money on hotels and meals.

Cruise Ships Going to Northern Europe in 2012
Cruisers going to northern Europe have diverse choices of prices, ships, and cruise lines. The cruising season to northern Europe, Scandinavia, and the Baltic states runs from May into September, with the busiest (and most expensive) cruises in July and August.

St. Petersburg, Russia
St. Petersburg is one of the most popular ports of call on northern European cruises. There is so much to see and do in the city that most cruise ships spend at least one overnight in St. Petersburg.

Stockholm, Sweden
Stockholm is one of my favorite ports of call in northern Europe. The city is in a beautiful setting surrounded by water and has a lovely old town. The popularity of Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy of crime novels set in Stockholm has intensified interest in the city.
